Most students dream of colleges like Hindu, LSR, SRCC, Hansraj, or St Stephen’s. Most parents quietly worry whether their child is good enough for such colleges.
Krishn’s story matters because he was not a topper. He was an average student for most of his school life.

Yet, he scored a perfect 800 out of 800 in CUET and secured admission into Hindu College. This is not a motivational story. This is a breakdown of what actually worked.
Table of Contents
1. The Problem Students and Parents Are Facing
Today, confusion around CUET is bigger than the exam itself.
Students are unsure about what CUET really tests, which subjects to choose, whether boards and CUET need separate preparation, and how cutoffs suddenly jump to 970 or 980.
Parents worry about wasted years, wrong subject combinations, and misinformation coming from too many sources.
Most students do not fail because they are weak. They fail because they prepare without clarity.
Krishn was stuck in the same confusion phase until he fixed that first.
2. The Reality Check That Changed Everything
Krishn realised one hard truth early. CUET is not about studying more. CUET is about studying right.
He stopped chasing shortcuts, predictions, and daily updates. Instead, he focused on understanding how CUET actually works.
Once that became clear, everything else became manageable.
3. Understanding CUET Without Fear
CUET stands for Common University Entrance Test. Today, it is the primary gateway to central universities like Delhi University, BHU, AMU, and Jamia.
CUET has three components.
Domain Subjects
These are your Class 12 subjects, not the course you want to study later.
If you studied Physics, Chemistry, and Biology in Class 12, these must be your CUET domains, even if you want to study Political Science in college.
Language Paper
Most students choose English or Hindi. The syllabus is clearly defined and predictable.
General Test
This includes logical reasoning, verbal ability, and quantitative aptitude. For many Delhi University courses, this is not mandatory.
For DU aspirants, domain subjects and the language paper matter the most.
4. The Biggest Mistake Students Make With Domain Selection
Krishn highlights a mistake that costs many students their admission.
Students often choose domains based on the course they want, not the subjects they studied in Class 12.
CUET does not work like that.
Your domain subjects must match your Class 12 subjects. Eligibility is decided by the university brochure, not assumptions.
This single correction saved Krishn from making an irreversible mistake.
5. Boards and CUET Are Not Two Separate Battles
This is where panic usually starts.
Krishn discovered that nearly 95 percent of the board syllabus and CUET syllabus overlaps, especially when studying from NCERT.
He followed one integrated approach.
- Study each chapter from NCERT thoroughly
- Prepare board-style subjective answers
- Solve CUET MCQs and previous year questions from the same chapter
One chapter, one effort, two exams prepared together.
After boards, CUET revision felt simple and familiar.
6. The Only Two Resources That Truly Matter
Krishn did not use endless books. His preparation revolved around the official syllabus and NCERT textbooks.
NCERT was treated as non-negotiable. Most CUET questions are directly or indirectly based on NCERT content.
7. What Actually Separates Toppers From Average Students
It is not intelligence. It is not coaching. It is revision.
Krishn revised each chapter six to seven times, starting immediately after completing it.
Each revision took less time than the previous one. Eventually, a chapter could be revised in minutes.
He made his own notes so revision became faster and more personal.
8. Practice With Purpose, Not Panic
Practice had three layers. Previous year CUET questions, reliable MCQs, and full-length mock tests.
Mocks helped with time management, accuracy, and decision-making. Krishn attempted multiple mocks for each subject.
9. A Warning About Overconsumption of Content
Watching dozens of daily updates creates anxiety, not clarity.
Find one reliable source. If a major change happens, you will know.
Your time is better spent revising NCERT than chasing rumours.
10. Mistakes to Avoid on Exam Day
Some mistakes have nothing to do with preparation.
- Carry your admit card
- Carry your Aadhaar card
- Carry all required documents
Preparation includes planning for the exam day itself.
11. The Final Belief That Made the Difference
Krishn never consistently scored 95 or 100 in school, yet he scored 800 out of 800 in CUET.
If you keep telling yourself it is impossible, it will be. If you prepare with belief and discipline, your seat exists.
Delhi University has thousands of seats. Competition is real, but it is not mythical.
